The Care You Deserve for
Foot and Ankle Fractures
A fracture is a partial or complete break in a bone. In the ankle, fractures can range from the less serious avulsion injuries (small pieces of bone that have been pulled off) to severe shattering-type breaks of the tibia, fibula or both.
Ankle fractures are common injuries that are most often caused by the ankle rolling inward or outward. Many people mistake an ankle fracture for an ankle sprain, but they are quite different and therefore require an accurate and early diagnosis. Other common foot fractures include toe fractures and metatarsal fractures. Contrary to common belief, toe fractures do require proper diagnosis and treatment for healing.
Dr. Kristin Blanchet will thoroughly evaluate your injury and will take state of the art digital x-rays in the office. She will determine if conservative treatment with a surgical shoe, walking boot, or cast is appropriate or if you will require surgical treatment. Dr. Blanchet is well trained in both foot and ankle surgery and will schedule surgery promptly as needed at a nearby location close to Palm City, Stuart, Hobe Sound, or Jensen Beach.
